• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

I've seen this article by Chuck Sambuchino before, but I thought that it might be of solace to those Colonists who have been putting themselves through the submission process.

It's easy to wonder whether literary agents are even human, as you fire off one query after another, hearing only deafening silence in return. Read these 13 things about them though, and you'll come to appreciate that they're actually warm, cuddly creatures with feelings too - though that he chose 13 things feels a bit loaded to me.

Actually I added up the numbers on my third novel, which I've given up on for the time being. 62 rejections and 69 no replies. As they say, you just have to keep on keeping on! ;)
