After months of depression and reworking yet another draft, I am finally actively submitting the first novel of my expansive mythos series again. Composing submission letters has me in knots, and I'm uptight, neurotic and a nervous wreck completely unfit for human contact of any degree.

Just got a rejection letter from an agent who thanked me for "letting them take a look." This was an agent whose submission guidelines only asked for a query, not any part of the MS.

Even their form rejections are becoming less considerate. >.>

Something's been bothering me, Colonists. My main MS, which I've been shopping around for years now, features a number of unpleasant creatures (seeing as it's Urban Fantasy about monster hunters). This includes vampires, both in the cold open first chapters and as villains later on.

My worry is, vampires being largely seen as a tired trope in recent years, is this putting off potential acceptance for the story?

Yet another rejection, on a weekend for crying out loud. I've been saying that I keep submitting to kill time until my heart gives out, but at this point I think it would be the shock of ever being accepted that would actually kill me.

Just got yet another rejection, but this one really struck a blow. It's from an absolutely lovely person of an agent, one I genuinely enjoy following on Twitter, who seems a really pleasant and admirable personality and a good fit for my material. At this point I'm considering abandoning this project I've put twenty years of my life into.
