• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

I do remember walking in a fog for days after seeing Zefferelli's Romeo and Juliet as a 13 year old. But that was because of the sheer beauty of the cinematography more than Shakespeare. It took awhile to come to my small Kansas town but when it finally did I was allowed the money to actually go to the movies. A very rare treat and my first experience with European opulence. The colours, the music, the poetry. To this day I will watch anything by Zefferelli because of his eye. La Traviata is as gorgeous. I saw it in NYC with people sobbing all around me.
My own most romantic moment would be when my husband stayed up helping me edit my first contest entry and submitting the final version seconds to the midnight deadline

This one always gets me. In my own life there have been many romantic moments, I can't really put my finger on any them, they seem like distant photos from a bygone era. I think innocence is an ingredient for romance, and I'm afraid at my age I'm just too smart for it. I see through it all.
