• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

I've commented before on the unfairness of the profit split that digital publishers offer authors. This is commonly only 25%, even though all of the publisher's expenses in storing, promoting and delivering an ebook are much less than with a traditional book.
The Alliance of Independent Authors and The Authors Guild are both pushing for a 50% royalty. This article shows that big publishers are not as good at selling digital versions of their clients books as those writers who stay independent and do it for themselves :

At least 50%, I mean with digital, the Author does most of the work!

It is a bit of a swiz isn't it? Perhaps that will change, perhaps it won't but in the mean time we will need to keep it in mind and shop around.
