Not exactly writing related, and a decade old, but I recently stumbled across this TED talk by Taika Waititi, and it spoke to me. Amidst the seemingly rambling delivery (which is clearly beautifully considered and deliberate), he delivers some great thoughts on creativity, personal expression, the meaning of life, and the role of failure in creativity. Like his films, this left me feeling lots of emotions and wondering what the hell I just watched.

This was such an unusual Ted Talk. In a way, it helped me reconcile the dark imagination that occurs so much sometimes in modern day unusual films. His freedom to embrace his creativity, and just let it pour out, dark or light, helps me understand why that's okay. He had to draw swastikas so they could turn into houses.
