Publishers of books on politics

I have written a book on modern politics, which is not my normal subject so I am not sure who is a suitable publisher. Whenever I try to contact a publisher who claims to cover that subject I find they no longer take books on politics. What am I doing wrong? And has anyone any idea who I ought to be talking to?
