• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We scraped by on Sunday’s Pop-Ups… just. A completely unrelated problem to the previous week’s surfaced about 30 minutes before we were due to go live. If you were in the Genius Room, watching the live stream on Twitch (it’s embedded into the GR voting page) you’d have caught every gory moment.

I say “completely unrelated” but in fact the upheaval caused by house moving is likely the root cause of both issues. This time, a hardware problem with the audio interface meant that either you could hear my audio, or I could hear the show’s audio… but not both.

Frantic scramblings produced a solution, sort of. I reverted to using the headset mike I normally use for Huddles. Not really broadcast quality, but it just about worked (it also introduced an echo into the audio of both guests, who handled it with great aplomb!).

So…

I think I’ve sorted it out now, but it needs testing before the next show on Sunday. Would anyone kindly like to offer themselves up as test subjects? It shouldn’t take long, maybe 15 minutes. I’m thinking about doing it at 3pm UK this Saturday. Full instructions will be sent.

Please pop your name below if you can help… thanks!

As in on-screen pretend guest? I don't have an ethernet cable. Only Wifi.

If you want someone in the chat room to check all is well, I can do that.
Thanks Hannah :) Chat room is fine this time. It's basic audio this time, specifically if I can hear both guests. . Won't mess atround with the complicating factor of your wifi, if you don't mind. But hopefully see you in Huddle tomorrow!

That'd be 2am our time. I could do that. I have my speech therapy one-on-one with my speech therapist, so I can form words, just slow, soft and rough. So if no one is available, I am, but I'm sure someone UK side will help you out :)
Good news re speech therapy, Rachel! Very encouraging. You are a sweetie to offer, but I’m not going to be responsible for you losing your beauty sleep! :)

I'm a bit slow on the uptake, sorry. Do you mean you don't need the chat room or you'd like me in the chat room? If I don't hear otherwise from you, I'll be there at 3pm. :)
