• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

HI, I arrived in Litopia today and just wanted to say hi.
I write Sci-fi/crime/thriller/mystery novels.
I like to mash up more than one genre in my stories.
I'm indie-published because some agents have said my novels aren't commercial enough for them.
I've written a Sci-fi saga containing four books and eight stand-alone stories which can have additional stories added to them.
My time is mostly used for writing or research for the field I study - Applied Linguistics.
Looking forward to chatting with Litopians.

Apparently, I should have added something about the following:

Where you're located in the world: Australia

Your reading tastes: anything I find interesting, could be genre specific, literary, mysteries, thrillers, crime. Dislike romance and military Sci-fi.

What areas of writing interest you: not sure what this means. Writing the first draft of a novel.

Life to date; surprises, successes, lessons learnt: I was initially surprised that I could write a novel, which I started writing while completing my PhD. I suppose the only the 'successes' I've had are finishing and novel and eventually writing 12 novels. I learned a great deal about writing since I first began writing and have managed to apply this in my writing (according to my editors).

Food & drink: I don't drink alcohol - avoid it like the plague because it doesn't me. I discovered this when I had my first beer, and thought, how can anyone drink this? As for food, I've been a vegetarian most of life. But since being diagnoses with liver disease (a genetic inheritance), I have had to eat a strict diet that includes meat - if I don't eat meat the ulceration on my low legs won't heal up. I mostly eat white meat and a truck load of vegetables. My favourite dishes are pasta dishes.

A very warm welcome to the colony, @Robotics .

Nice to have you here with us. Hope you enjoy Litopia and please do get involved as soon as you’re ready to.

This is a good place to check out How-to guide to see a lot of what goes on in the colony.

If anything is unclear do please contact me and I’ll be happy to assist if I can.

Hello... I don't drink alcoholics either- they have a strange effect on me- either make me go to sleep or do a tarantella on the table- either are not desirable, I don't think. But coffee's nice. Welcome- do you have a proper name? and maybe even a picture of you. I love seeing what the person I'm talking to looks like, don't you?
