• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Do you know of a scholarly book on the history of fantasy literature?

Something like this, or something different? Lots of stuff out there, and a few recent ones, but you'd have to search by date published to see them all.

Found this. Not sure if it's what you're after and I haven't read it.

The Cambridge Companion to Fantasy Literature: Edward James and Farah Mendlesohn

The Cambridge Companion (James & Mendlesohn, 2012) that Serra mentions above is a good jumping off point. And Rhetorics of Fantasy (Mendlesohn, 2013) is also worth taking a look at. I don't know if that's recent enough for you though, Peyton.
