Interesting article, and I agree with it, for the most part. Especially using Brave New World as an example of literary fiction. And she's right about those of us who write genre fiction. I have more restrictions in what I write than I can keep track of most days. Unfortunately, it's also why what I write is so often termed formulaic. And when I try to break away from that formula and throw in some pretty cool stuff (cool in my mind, anyway) a few of my readers scratch their heads and go HUH? LOL!! Maybe one day I'll put on my big girl panties and write a novel that doesn't follow any genre rules. ;)
