I think @Jonny s Northern Irish (Norn Iron) accent is the reason for the bison/basin (although Johnny has a very soft NI accent, so it wouldn't be wholy apparent. We should get him to say "now" at the Huddle, to test for the strength of it. For the craic )

Here is Scotland, I'm very often asked to say "thirty three and a third" and I discovered an interpretation problem when I taught biology to first years in school, or they'd all agreed on the joke, for, in their class exam answers they'd all written "tin capillaries".
