• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

I have been thinking about setting up an online writing workshop. The in-person workshop group I have been participating in here has been fun and productive, maybe it can work online, too.

The basic idea is that we use a framework with short exercises (I have Steering the Craft by Ursula le Guin, but other suggestions are welcome). Everyone does the exercise, then we have meet up to share what we've written and give feedback.

I know we all have different approaches and genres, but my group here has a children's book author, a Kenyan poet, a literary naturalist and me (aliens!) and we manage. In fact, I dare say it's even more fun this way

I have a Zoom premium account (thank you, third job) so could host. Timing could be difficult, but I was thinking we could run it on Wednesdays round about Huddle South time, when Huddle South isn't on.

Any takers?

This sounds great but unfortunately work will rule it out for me.

I'm definitely a taker. Anything that helps improve craft. I have many a craft book with exercises:

James Scott Bells' - Voice: The Secret Power of Great Writing
James Scott Bells' - Writing Unforgettable characters
Sasha Black - The Anatomy of Prose

I probably have more, but with Ursula and these, that's a solid start :)
