I'm revisiting Michael Crichton's The Lost World (Jurassic Park) and reflecting (after a slow first half), the second half of the book is so full of tension, it's the only book where I've had to stop and have a break because the tension was so damned good.

Someone who is Covid-19 positive has just been arrested for spitting on fresh fruit in a supermarket. She's been caught on camera, it's been taken down but I saw it before that happened. People are awful.

Brandon Sanderson just live tweeted the finish of Book 4 of his Stormlight series. This is his last update:

And...done! "The End" has been typed and Stormlight Book Four is finished. (Rough Draft, at least.) 19k words today, 424k words total. I'm extremely proud of this ending; I hope you all enjoy it when you finally get to read it in eleven months or so.

The state of NSW is on catastrophic fire alert for the next 2 days. 64 fires across the state; 40 uncontained; 3 deaths. 200 homes destroyed. The smoke is so bad it's travelled to New Zealand (South Island). And we're not alone, a lot of Australia is on alert.
