Hi all, someone (I think @Mel L ) suggested a thread for sharing our favorite writing playlists. Here's mine

Nordic-style (also some Slavic) music:

Agree 100! Any words are distracting. How do find such playlists 'sans' lyrics?

I couldn't possibly listen to anything while writing - I need total focus.

Sometimes I can only achieve focus by blocking out the person who shares my space (aka, husband) yacking on the phone on all day (it pays the bills so who can complain?) The right music really helps at those times.

Not to self: Thank goodness I have no kids. Dogs are very accommodating once you've tired them out.

My senior dog is very accommodating. My cat is constantly trying to write her own stories and they normally go like dhshdbfbsjjsbchdnsnxhdnsnx.

Click on the Spotify search icon, then scroll down the browse panels. You'll see one called Instrumentals. Click on that and you'll find an array of instrumental playlists...pick one that appeals!

I have found this one which is great for my purposes. A ten-hour playlist of meditative atmosphere. ideal for fantasy projects.

Music? I live with a musician so it's all white noise I tune out. One strum of a guitar and my ears switch off.

I listen to music on YouTube when I want music. Try searching for Dark Academia, Cottagecore, or Sufi Meditation Music. Lots of music, few lyrics. The only lyrics I like when I am writing are in languages I do not know.

Dead Sea Apes have soundtracked a good proportion of mine, esp this album:

(Their own description of their sound is pretty delightful... "range(s) from ambient cloud to massive crunch via elliptical extended rhythms and creeping effects, all shot through with a hovering ominous presence.")

Interestingly, I have. Hubs discovered her music and we went to see her in concert. She is a much better musician than performer!
