• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

You knew it would be hard, and it would be uncomfortable, and it might be awkward—and you did it anyway. That’s courage.

Determination is a good word for it. I'd say it does also demand a certain courage to commit to any long haul or a confrontation, where there's risk of material loss, unpleasantness, hostility, exposure, ridicule, humiliation and no guarantees of success. People who put themselves 'out there' need a thick skin. There are always people, maybe even people they thought were their friends, who would gladly see them fall flat on their face.
