Well we're getting a few folks back into the fold. What have you been up to in the writing world? What are you creating, and how gosh-darn happy are you?

I’m doing what most people in publishing are doing these days – leading at least two lives. One in the “traditional” (er, legacy?) publishing world, one on the brave new digital frontier.

It’s very demanding. I talking to a lot of folk about this aspect of our lives, and everyone says how hard it is now. You’re always “on”.

How fast everything is changing!

Since I was last in the Colony I've managed to have a few short stories published in online magazines of speculative fiction and I have a novel due in 2015 with a Canadian ebook publisher that specialises in SF/Fantasy called Double Dragon Publishing. I owe an acknowledgement to Litopia as the first chapter was critiqued in the houses. :)

September 14th is the launch date for one of my(Pillar Publishing, that is) books: the 10th anniversary edition of 'Pinhead Duffy' by Helena Close. Then Sep 27th we're launching a book called 'The Unbearable Sheitness of Being' which I co-wrote with a former Litopian.
And amongst all of this clatter and hoo-ha, I'm working with two writers to secure Arts Council funding for their books. Fun times ahead.

Writing Night Moves - The Doms of Sybaris Cove 6. This is my contemporary/paranormal series set on a fictional island off the coast of Louisiana. The descendants of the original four who stole it from the natives have a curse on them. None of the males can leave the island or they die. Makes for a nice contemporary setting with a touch of mystery, and because each book unravels yet another clue to the origins of the curse, I can keep this going indefinitely. Or until my readers get sick of it. ;) I'm having fun writing it!

Also working on final edits for Fooled Around And Fell In Love - The Doms of Sybaris Cove 3 - releasing September 22nd, and first round edits for To Sir With Love - The Doms of Sybaris Cove 4 - releasing October 13th.

A lot of editing, Since my first book is polished (Epic fantasy) I am now editing and polishing book 2 before tackling the editing of the remaining in the series.

(Sorry if my commenting on older posts annoys anyone, I am trying to get to know you all and the forum better :) )

@Karen Gray How is the agent hunt going? What genre are you writing?

Mines is a post apocalyptic mythical fantasy series so basically fantasy. Set between Alba and Sasann (Scotland and England). I have it with one agent atm, awaiting reply but it's only been gosh, 2 weeks maybe and I know he is really busy right now.

I was going to self publish but trying my luck with one more agent, I feel it's too specialised for someone to risk which is fair enough. I will publish myself in March probably if it's a no. My cover artist and I are aiming for around then to have the art up to scratch :)

You?

@Karen Gray I write fantasy also :) It's good you have it with an agent already :) If it is any use to you I have a list of agents currently accepting Fantasy genre, if you would like a copy of it let me know, I would be more than happy to share it.

I may have sent to them already but yes please ;) I'll send you any I know of that aren't on your list :)

Finished the last of The Doms of Sybaris Cove series and submitted it to Siren yesterday! Hooray!! Now working on the prequel for Voyeur Moon, my series I hope to give to Evernight as Ravenna Tate. I also will be working on two series for Siren as Tara Rose, beginning this month. And I have first round edits for Private Pleasures - The Doms of Sybaris Cove 8 - which are due on 12/12.

Thank you :) I have it on a spread sheet, if you send me a quick email I will respond back with it :) my email is k.j.Simmill@gmail.com I was surprised by the volume of people that say no fantasy.

I just completed one last proofread of a thriller with light sci-fi elements. The full has been with an agent for three months, but I haven't heard back. I'm not feeling optimistic about an offer, so I'm getting antsy to self-publish it.

Meanwhile, I've been working on my Nanowrimer project--an epic fantasy near and dear to my heart. Also, I've been busy critiquing a fellow author's WIP. He critiques my stuff in return, so it's a symbiotic relationship. I could use another critique buddy like that...hint, hint.

Lol I think we all could, that's one of the reasons I joined here in the first place :)

I'm always free so just drop me a line if you want opinion :) Plus, the houses will be opening soon hopefully, no idea how many members we have now, it used to be listed but disappeared. Shouldn't be long though xx
