This is what I was trying to capture with my book set 150 years after an apocalypse. Not quite this form, but more even if the worst that you fear happens-there is a future. As a child of parents who grew up in a Depression and the Dust Bowl dubbed an eco disaster at the time, I feel this is an important message. During the 30's there was a fear nothing would ever grow in the midwest again.

Ayana co-edited the bestselling climate anthology All We Can Save, co-created and co-hosted the Spotify/Gimlet podcast How to Save a Planet, and co-authored the Blue New Deal, a roadmap for including the ocean in climate policy. She earned a BA in environmental science and public policy from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in marine biology from Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
