• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

RE: Empress Theresa...eek. She was alienified by a red fox. They're all over the place here. One followed my daughter to the post box, relaxed as you like.

I just got this in my email...

Dear Karen,

Many thanks for your patience in waiting to hear from us.

We have read this with great interest. We are however sorry to say that after careful consideration we are not able to offer you representation for your work.

Due to the high volume of work that we are receiving we are having to be extremely selective about the work that we choose to represent, and we are only able to take on very few authors at this time.

We apologise for the disappointing response and as this is such a subjective industry we would strongly recommend that you send your work to as many other agencies as possible.

We are sure that you will find the right home for this and we wish you every success in doing so.

Best wishes,

The Blair Partnership

Made me smile, but I think I'm still going to self publish the first one at least. Too specialised I think. If I can get the first one popular, I may go traditional with book 2... I may not. BLAH!!! lol

Still... I smiled from the rejection... that's so backward :p

I've actually felt not to bad at all about the rejection's I've had. They all were polite and complemented the work. No stinkers. The worst things I've had said about work were from fellow students on the writing course I did... and all about poetry lol Classmates can be so bitchy... Still givey you a thick skin before you talk to the 'Big Boys' ;)

I released my sixth title back in August. Those that read it enjoyed it. I'm finding the level of energy necessary for a solid response from the market is just not mine to command. Self pubbing your work requires a lot of luck and a lot of understanding of how to market to specific readers. A friend of mine just self-pubbed what has been decided is a YA fantasy and he's selling about ten to twenty copies every day the past few months. I am impressed, but I understand that he picked a very productive genre. My own work falls between several nicely producing slots, so it looks like I'd better find another day job or tighten the belt. I would welcome traditional representation in a heartbeat. Maybe my WIP: WW2 Nautical Family Saga? Onwards.
