A related aside: I never know whether to be impressed or disturbed by the way a Runcible Spoon actually became a 'real' thing through people's obsession with definitions.

Just a cat and owl friendship vis a vis the famous Lear poem. I don't understand it either! Not a word.

Too right, Howard. He made it up, apparently. He also had a runcible hat.
 
Yeah I saw them get married .. but then the owl flew over the ocean with the pussy in it's talons. Doesn't look good for the pussy cat.

Hahahaaaa...no, it was all right, they were just off on a weirdly interspecies honeymoon. And then, in the unpublished sequel, they had owl sons and cat daughters. As you do.

No hybrids, and they all liked mice for tea. Bad luck, mice.
