• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Mother dragon, grasping this moment of squabble in the upturned car, plunged through the thinning bubbles of distracted dolphins, crossed the lower water-line, into Lemuria.

“Someone must take charge. I’m Queen Dragon, I’ll do it.
Princess Fiona, liaise with dolphins." The tiny dragon nodded. "Charlotte, liaise with Lemurians. See, there.”

"Take some deep breaths when the Lemurians come for us," instructed Gabby. "And Daniel, Bob is actually your sister. We thought you'd worked it out."

The three were surrounded by a ring of armed dolphins. 'Daniel,' the tiny dragon squeak-roared. 'Declare. Whose side are you on?'

****** And we are DONE!****** I wasn't sure how that would wrap up :) Well done and thank you so much to all who took part.

Now, let the voting begin:
one like = 1 vote
one love = 2 votes

And just a reminder (not that I need to ;) :) )... no voting for own entry... I'm like the All-Seeing Eye hovering above :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

I ended it, cos I was sick of the bugger. If I vote for my own, it's purely accidental (though I'm pretty sure I haven't.)

A MASSIVE thank you to @gbhunt who summarised our entire story below :)

Charlotte (a human) and Daniel (a shapeshifter) enter Bob’s Air B&B at dusk to find a half-eaten peanut butter sandwich and the back door unlocked. Smoke is seeping from the cellar. As fire threatens, Charlotte grabs the parchment she was searching for, and she and Daniel flee.

Waiting outside is Gabby (a crazed, red-haired stalker). Charlotte wonders who told Gabby where to find them and Daniel prevaricates. He mentions that Bob was stockpiling fireworks in his cellar. Charlotte ignores him, wanting to confront Gabby.

Gabby draws a gun and demands Charlotte hand over the parchment (which she believes is a map). Charlotte is asking Daniel if he knows what Gabby is talking about when a burning aeroplane streaks past.

Somehow, the parchment ignites, and Daniel rolls Charlotte on the ground to put out the flames. Gabby drags Charlotte into a nearby creek, but Daniel tells her they are running out of time. They hear the ravenous howling of dogs, and then the cottage explodes.

All three people run to Gabby’s yellow volkswagon, where Gabby takes the remnant of the parchment from Charlotte. Later, at a roadside McDonalds, they encounter Bob. Bob is waiting for someone (or something) and begins to howl. Gabby shows Bob the fragment of parchment (which she now realises is not a map to Lemuria) and asks if Bob ever had the map.

The howling grows closer. Daniel, Gabby and Bob run back to the car, but Charlotte escapes into the Grenoside woods.

Back in Bob’s Air B&B, a dragon’s egg (long-forgotten beneath the floorboards) begins to hatch.

Charlotte runs to a bell tower and rings the bells to summon help. Gabby recognises the bells of St Esabius and realises a dragon is hatching.

Bob asks whether they plan to travel to Lemuria. Gabby tells him they don’t need a map after all, because she is actually Lemurian.

In the meantime, Charlotte’s bells have summoned the newly-hatched dragon. As Daniel, Gabby and Bob start off in the volkswagon, something lands on top of them. It turns out that the small dragon Charlotte summoned has a mother (Mother dragon), who holds the map to Lemuria that will help Charlotte escape. But first, they crush the volkswagon.

Gabby uses her Lemurian powers to repair the volkswagon and fly it after the dragon.

Over the Pacific ocean, something interferes with Gabby’s powers and they spiral towards the ocean. They are caught—all of them—in the bubble net created by the armed dolphins of the Lemurian guard.

Surrounded by dolphins, Charlotte and Gabby argue, and Gabby reveals that she and Daniel are still lovers. Charlotte asks mother dragon to breath fire on Gabby, but dragons don’t breath fire.

Daniel asks if they can backtrack and make a plan. But only Gabby speaks Lemurian.

Bob confronts Gabby, asking if she has told Daniel some information they share. Gabby says she hasn’t, but suggests that Bob (or Daniel did).

Mother dragon takes advantage of the distraction to plunge into the deeper ocean, towards Lemuria. Charlotte finds she can breathe underwater. Mother dragon takes charge and asks her daughter (Princess Fiona) and Charlotte to act as envoys.

Gabby reveals that Bob is actually Daniel’s sister, and she thought Daniel already knew.

Daniel makes a snap decision to join the dolphin guard and shapeshifts. They accept him into their ranks. Gabby reveals that she is also a shapeshifter, and changes into a lobster. Now everyone is confused.

Deriding them all as children, mother dragon puts on a crown and announces herself the Empress Glidys. She is here to liberate Lemuria. But first, she would like a peanut butter sandwich.

At the mention of food, someone suggested a party, and everyone relaxed.

So we leave our participants at the bottom of the sea, amidst the pink, purple and gold sands of Lemuria, and bathed in the glow from their computer screens.

I think @gbhunt requires a prize for that excellent precis! Perhaps a peanut butter sandwich? ;) :sandwich:

Basically, anyone who doesn't write EXACTLY 100 words (not including title) is DISQUALIFIED and THROWN OUT ON THEIR SORRY ARSE, so it's an exercise in precision. Words need to be counted by hand, as Word word count can throw up anomalies (such as counting ... as a word).
