• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Just joined Litopia. Short story writer from Britain living in Tokyo. Ended 2016 with a spate of rejections, but what the hell, another year!

Hi Ian. I'm a fledgling too, just joined earlier this week. Welcome! What are you hoping for here?

Welcome to the colony, it's a captivating canopy.:)

Hello :) Ah, those adorable little rejections. May this be your year. What kind of short stories?
No particular genre, though quite a few are travel related. Japan is a source of inspiration. Living in a culture where things are quite different makes you observant and when I go back to Britain I always feel like I am looking in from outside, which is good for writing.

I think just to share experiences, writing markets, not feel like I am the only one struggling to get published.

Welcome. Rejections are the most constant companion of a writing life - at least they are mine.

Welcome Ian and lets hope 2017 is a better year for all of us.
