• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Hi Everyone - my name is Laura Sheridan, though my full name is Giacomina Laura Sheridan (maiden name - Licata). As you might be able to tell, I'm of Italian descent, so was interested to see Agent Pete describe himself as 'Capo Famiglia.' Makes me feel at home.

Hi Katie-Ellen - Reading and writing Science-Fiction - the proper stuff like Asimov, Bradbury, Heinlein - and comedy. But I'm not narrow-minded and will read anything if it sounds good. What do you like?

I used to read more sci-fi than I do at present. My reading is pretty eclectic depending on mood. Fiction and non-fiction titles next to my bed at the moment include.

Natural Causes, Barbara Ehrenreich.
The Flight Of The Maidens Jane Gardam

I'll have to look those up. Have you ever read any Sarah Waters? I think 'Night Watch' is a wonderful book. Can't read in bed, myself - I slip into slumber and my glasses keep falling off.

I need reading glasses now, I reckon. Sarah Waters.Yes, and a big name, but she hasn't quite grabbed me yet somehow.
