• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

"Life is like a piano; the white keys represent happiness and the black show sadness. But as you go through life's journey, remember that the black keys also create music."

Fascinating fact:

From harpsichord to piano, the colours used to be the other way around because they used black wood and (for the rich) ivory. Ivory was much more expensive so was used for the fewer keys - the minor keys.

At some point (no source I've read seems quite sure when), the colours were changed about, it's thought because it was much easier to see the gaps between white keys than black keys.
