Hello Litopia Community,
My name is Tyler. I've recently started doing some creative writing and have discovered that I really enjoy it. In doing so I am also realizing that I need to gather more feedback and comments on the things I am working on, and ultimately read and critique more things myself for further improvement. I'm not really writing for anyone or anything in particular at the moment, but I would like to get more eyes considering its quality than my own, or the people that have to say nice things about the things I do
For a little history, I have done some writing over the years for work, but that was more of a media/marketing/tech business world style than what I am doing for myself and my creative endeavors. I'm doing creative writing, in fact, as one way to deal with the mundane "Corporate America" world I live in most days. I run a creative department for a tech company currently, and it's not quite the thing tickling my fancy—it simply pays the bills at this stage. My history is in design specifically, but have been managing teams that do a lot of different design work over the last decade.
I've been researching a few different writing forums and platforms, so I am officially taking Litopia for a spin. Not really sure how it works yet, or how active I will be or need to be. I've been writing a few stories over the last year. They started small, but have gotten large, and in many ways overwhelming. So I backed up and tried to practice writing more singular essays or short stories, even a few motorcycle related bits—as I am an avid rider. I find that this practice of shorter and more to the point work has definitely helped, but I am hoping to further gain experience and knowledge to help me finish out my bigger ideas as well.
One note. I know to receive critiques, you must give them, and I am on board, so I also look forward to reading what y'all are putting out there. I will admit that I am a SLOW reader. I always have been. I am hoping to improve that slightly with more and more writing and reading.
Thanks for the time.
