• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Our image-provoked flash fiction competition has ended with two new designated Flash Fiction Masters: David Steele has won the popular vote for his tale "Masks"; Kitty won the celebrity judging for her story "Endings". Let's raise our glasses to them both for such entertaining, absorbing writing developed from only visual clues. Their muses must have worked overtime on this one! We all look forward to what comes from their writing in the future. For those who have missed reading these stories, they will be found in the Flash Club Forum under the May/June Prompt Thread. Next time, we'll have a sentence prompt and a shorter word count, for more challenge. Sharpen up your keyboards and make sure to get your entry ready. The prompt will post after July 15th... now, let's get back to cheering and toasting David and Kitty.

Congratulations, David and Kitty! You both deserve your applause.

Well done both, fantastic stories!

As I said on what turns out to have been the wrong thread, if David's mum is a gentleman she will return the gin and the dahlias...
