Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.
This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.
Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…
We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

I take it you aren't a fan of Hardy.Bit of a toff whizzes around in an old aeroplane: (Any Biggles book you'd care to mention)
But rather sadly not quite far enough for this reviewer (Far From The Madding Crowd)
No, I preferred Laurel.I take it you aren't a fan of Hardy.
Laurel was definitely the brains of the outfit...No, I preferred Laurel.
Sorry - re Hardy. Not read any to be hones. It was a cheap shot to allow me to make the joke. Yes, I'm extremely shallow
And now... I have another Hardy one lined up too for the future.
Cheat, lolThere and back again. (The Hobbit)
Yes, Stan did all the heavy lifting behind the scenes - writing and admin. "Babe" as Ollie was known was more often than not golfing or having a drink. I loved their work. Have all their stuff on CD.Laurel was definitely the brains of the outfit...
On the edge of my seat for your next boring Hardy book.
I'm with you on Stan & Ollie - we're big fans in our house too. You've probably seen that great biopic from a few years back - Steve Coogan as Laurel is uncanny.Yes, Stan did all the heavy lifting behind the scenes - writing and admin. There's an excellent documentary on Sky - it may also be on Netfilx too. Laurel & Hardy doc.
I'm tempted to post my Hardy (T) one in a moment.
That was worth the wait. Proper belly laugh. The Only Way is Wessex (Most of Thomas Hardy's output about late 1800s chavs))
Yep - big Coogan fans here too. Love the Trip.Yes, the L&H film was great. Coogan's one of my fav funny people - and what an impressionist.
Have you watched him and Rob Brydon's 'The Trip' series?

Ohhh I'm reading this one now. I should have avoided this thread, because spoilersMisogynist gaslights wife and locks her in the attic, then abuses his position with impressionable young employee (he should've died in the fire) - Jane Eyre
Agreed. And main chars have seriously weird names.I have mixed feelings about T Hardy. Had to read him for A level many moons ago. Life being short, and so much else to read, I wouldn't recommend.
I love Thomas Hardy. Was delighted when I lived in Casterbridge for a while.Agreed. And main chars have seriously weird names.
I've been told lots of people do, but sadly...I love Thomas Hardy
i feel you. Am the same about Dickens.I've been told lots of people do, but sadly...
Another one with weird names. I think Dickens actually started it.Dickens.
