• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

I'm officially a writer - if having a T-shirt counts. A good friend ordered a limited edition T-shirt for me, which arrived from Teespring in Rhode Island recently.

Being a writer without the internet would be so much harder, but I fear that the message on the shirt is accurate. I've written several stories which required masses of research into subjects as diverse as forensic medicine, badgers, train-spotting and interbreeding between Native American tribes and escaped black slaves. It's hard not to get distracted by such interesting things, forgetting to create the story.

Teespring specialise in producing designs to support campaigns through T-shirt designs. My writer T-shirt is no longer available, as there was a cut-off point of the 4th August, I think, but they have a Pinterest presence showing some of their designs:
