What an asshole.
There's no accounting for taste... or the balls to diss the genre which is about to give you that big break...
Here's to hoping that as he moves through this process, he learns how to communicate in a productive and gentile way.
Oh, and @Quillwitch, don't give up. Don't let his arrogance rent space in your head. It won't endear him to the literary community, or to his future readers.
His arrogance and his agent's arrogance are not under your control. You can only control your reaction to their pathetic attempt at "marketing" this book. And screw the money. It won't buy him a better personality.Maybe not, but still, this white man arrogance got him a hefty 6 figure deal AND a movie deal in Hollywood. How is that even possible? It makes you wonder. And, thanks for cheering me on. I shall prevail, but it is things as these that make me question the business of publishing. And his agent seems to be not better herself.
Hang in there. The twisted and scary ones are currently the loudest, but the majority of people aren't twisted and scary. Better heads will prevail...
