• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

I'm up to 35.5k, 10,722 (to the word!) written this month. I may not get another 10k done as was my originally stated aim, but will try for another decent chunk between now and Monday, Tuesday onward will be really hectic so i doubt i'll get much done. My challenge is on!
Happy writing, everyone. Or productive, at least. Sometimes the happiness of getting words down comes a while after they're written.

So true, Trey!

I've really slowed down now and I'm stitching together what I've written, also adding more emotional reactions and making sure the sleuthing tracks.

Best climax I've ever written (and most fun!). I'm also going through the denouement and making it fit (was originally written as the midpoint, but far more cathartic for the ending). Then the time consuming work of going through my excel spreadsheet starts. Lucky it's satisfying or I'd never do it!

Big writing day today. 2.2k done. My marked for death character is still alive. In all fairness, I've got a few more POVs to write before I get back to (what I hope will be) their final scene.
Are you sure your marked for death char is mean to die? They seem pretty hearty.

I have just finished the chunk of scenes that I knew would be the trickiest in this edit, and I was right! Phew. I'm much happier with it now. But to be fair, this section was a mess before, so low bar. Anyway, 4 more chapters now to "the end" and then I go back to see if I can cut 7K words from the whole MS. Ha! Didn't help that I had to add a chapter to this section to get it all to work as I wanted. Good grief. So now it's 106K and I am committed to keeping the final draft under 100K.
