• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Self-publishing is much less looked down upon now than it was a year or two ago, but it will only make you more money if you put in the effort. You have to market like crazy in order to make money that way because you don't have the connections to get into Barnes & Noble or independent bookstores.

An interesting article about Mark Dawson, one of the most successful self-published authors around:
Meet Mark Dawson, the literary sensation you've never heard of
A great link. Thank you. I find it a little depressing. What does Mark Dawson say? - "I’ve got a theory that the next great novel has probably been self-published over the last five years, but it’ll remain submerged until the author is able to make that change from creative to businessperson.” For me, at the moment, self-marketing is a horrible prospect. ;)

I really liked the read. And I do agree with Dawson. Maybe we should all start moving in that direction. I´m not very good with marketing, but I guess if you have a good product, and willing to learn, you can go far.
