• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Hello everyone! I recently rejoined Litopia after a twenty-year break. I first became a member in 2005 and was active until 2009. No, I didn't go to prison; I got married, had a child, and became very focused on work and life in general. Writing has always been my passion, and now that I've slowed down a bit, with my son well on his way to chasing his dreams, I felt it was a good time to return to my writing home and say hello. I am interested in meeting like minded people, and sharing my work in a supportive environment. I have become much more wary of any platforms due to toxicity. I'm not sure how I get started with this, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Hiya Mark,

Welcome back to the least toxic platform on the net.
Hope you are finding your way around and settling back in.

Rachel :)

Welcome, Highwayman (cue the Dick Turpin theme)
What genre do you write in?
Life, coming of age, based on my personal experiences. I am working on a novel called "The Cat Box". I am a Human RIghts/Social Justice Advocate, and spent thirty years working in youth and family court. I also worked part-time in a group care facility(group home), for children who were sexually exploited. My novel is based on this group home and the youth who called this place home. Thank you for reaching out!

Thank you for the insight. I am starting to learn how to navigate the site and next steps. I would love to start reading people's work. So figuring out how to do that.
Head on over to The Lab to find full instructions and a handy video too.
You can get stuck in with reading other writers' work whenever you are ready.
There are some great pieces up for critique at the moment.
Once you've done at least five critiques, you can upload your own work for others to read. Let me know using the super simple form here when you are ready to share your writing.

I like the sound of this :)

Finding it very challenging. The Lab is such an essential part of why I am here.

Hi Mark, your story on writing similar to mine. I stopped writing when married life, family, work and DIY took over. Good luck on your writing, I hope you have success. If you chose to share on Litopia I will be happy to comment.
best wishes
Paul C
