• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

I want to avoid moving it around too much, cos then there's a greater likelihood of cancellations, clashes, etc with my regular appointment diary. Also it could become a scheduling minefield between me and the writer.

How do Saturdays at the same time strike folk?

That works for me. :)

Probably works for many. Or even Sat morning. (Would that be friday eve in the US? I don't have a time thingy to hand.)

The US is anywhere from 6 to 9 hours behind, so 10:00 AM Saturday morning in London would be 4:00 AM here, and 1:00 AM on the West Coast. :)

Saturdays are good for me, or will be when my life calms down a little....

Saturday is okay for me. Big thank you to Peter for sharing his time.
Probably me being dense, which is not unusual, but is the process to submit a 600 page sample on the Sunday Submissions and then those chosen to be called in, will be scrutinised on the Litopia Eyes only Saturday Submissions Surgery? Or can we submit to the Surgery direct?

Thanks for the thanks, Geoff :)

No, the two events are not connected.
Pop-Ups are for anybody, Litopian or not, to send in a mini-submission and have it looked at live. The goal would be for our guest publisher (or me!) to call in the submission, ie to ask to see the whole thing. Only Litopians can take part in the live chat.

Submissions Surgery is exclusively for Litopians. We'll be using an unlisted YouTube channel - in other words, it isn't totally private, but unless you know the link, you'll never find it. One submission looked at, in depth, every week.

The video will be removed from YouTube when we're done, but may be available here in the Colony, just for members, for a few weeks.

Saturday at London's 7pm works out to a convenient 10am on the US west coast, but I'm still struggling with Discord and cannot get into the chat room. So it goes. I watch the Pop-ups on FB, and agree with whoever said that a professional FB page is pretty basic. Just don't post anything you wouldn't want on a billboard - which is a pretty good strategy for anything on-line. A secret FB group is fine with me as long as I'm invited. ;-)

Patricia, have you asked Chase for some help with Discord?

Chase’s Technical Questionnairium

The time is likely to be 6pm UK, not 7.

We won't use Facebook, we'll use (at least initially) an unlisted video on YouTube. The link will only be available inside the Colony, i.e. to Litopians.

I was going to start this Saturday, but i just haven't had enough time to get the tech in place. Almost certainly Sat 21st, though. Watch out here for details on submitting and how to watch/participate.
