• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Poetry Some Say That Time Is a Straight Line We Follow

The World Between the Words
Quick note: this is one of the Minzuku verses (my story) and may not represent how I feel about the world.

Some Say That Time Is a Straight Line We Follow
From Elder Prophecies

I have looked; I have searched; I have scaled every mountain,
And I tell you, as far as the human eye sees,
No one remains in the land of the living
Who does not seek solely his people to please.

They say, “Rise, ye nation, destroy all who hate you,
Leave not a single babe crying in bed.
If you choose to show one soul compassion and mercy,
That child may one day see you, too, are dead.”

But I say “Dear sons, see the path we’ve been walking?
Dear daughters, can’t we choose peace over war?
Children, can we overcome past transgressions?
Or will hatred and fear direct bloodshed e’ermore?”

Some say that time is a straight line we follow,
Futures improved when our history we learn.
Perhaps, though, we’re slaves to time’s circular rhythm,
Our ancestors’ sins recommitted each turn.
