• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Title: Locke (2014)

Tagline: No turning back

Genre: Drama, Thriller

Director: Steven Knight

Cast: Tom Hardy, Ruth Wilson, Andrew Scott, Olivia Colman, Tom Holland, Ben Daniels, Bill Milner, Alice Lowe, Danny Webb, Lee Ross, Silas Carson, Kirsty Dillon

Release: 2014-04-10

Plot: Ivan Locke has worked hard to craft a good life for himself. Tonight, that life will collapse around him. On the eve of the biggest challenge of his career, Ivan receives a phone call that sets in motion a series of events that will unravel his family, job, and soul.

A great, virtuoso calling card for both Hardy and writer/director Knight.

Isn't that the film where everything takes place in the car?

Genius. How to create drama and get deep into one person's life. Just shows you, one doesn't need one fancy scene after the next to build a good story. Simple interactions between people do the same.

Yes, that's right. Budget £2m, tiny by today's standards. Could almost have been a radio play... altho it wouldn't have been noticed...
