• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence
    • Don't take offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Saturday sees our weekly Writers' Huddle, and at the bottom of this post, you will find a link to the Huddle Hangout Forum. If you wish to be included in this week's session, then simply post your name below (in this thread) with an optional message along the lines of (Yes please. Count me in... You betcha... etc.)

When you add your name, you will be included in the Private Group in the Huddle Hangout. Then, when you click the link below, to take you to the Hangout, you just select the post with the relevant date, wherein the Zoom Meeting Link will found in the first post of that group thread. :) Please note, when added to the group you should also receive a notification. So you now have two ways of getting to the session on the day.

This sign up thread will be posted here every week.

If you've not attended one before - what happens in Huddles?

Put simply, every week when the Private Group thread goes live (normally Thursday AM - UK time) you can post work for @AgentPeteand fellow Huddlers to offer critique and suggestions on. These submissions can be anything - from the opening pages of your work in progress, to a blurb, synopsis or query letter. Nothing is out of bounds. General questions on the publishing industry are encouraged and if you spot something you feel is worth sharing with the group, then that's also welcomed.

So don't be shy, there's no pressure and you don't need to submit work. You can simply attend just to watch and listen or help with the critique. The atmosphere is completely relaxed and there is anyways lots of fun.

Yes please, Jonny. Be delighted.

Include me out of that there.

On Wednesday I had a lovely conversation with my grandmother, who told me to go to the hospital. Before you ask, aside from being moderately dead these past eighteen months, she's doing quite well. Spent overnight in hospital having more conversations that I can't remember and having the peculiar sensation of being concurrent in all forms of my life to date, experience their thoughts and relearning lyrics to songs I had long forgotten.

Am not coming to Huddle this week because I don't want to.

Hope you're okay Jason? xx

I am cranky, exhausted, and on SO many meds right now. However, after a conversation with 21-year-old me, I now remember the words to Engel by Rammstein, if that helps. It was not a skill set I thought I needed at this stag in life, but es wenn die Wolchen schlafen gehen, kan Mann uns am Himmel sehen. Wir haben Angst und sind alein....(sing it with me!)

UND GOTT WEISS ICH WILL KEIN ENGEL SEIN!
