• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Written late July of 2018

In the Fallowfield the fireflies dance.
Feather-headed fern grasses tickle knee-socked shins and freckle-faced skins.
Wet dew grass grazes, damp dawn light gazes
as fairy lights flicker fingers of praises.

Wonder-eyed we, hand in hand
awander, wistful children watching.

Jars swing wide, catch them close, lantern-like, lazy lights, lonely flicker foundering.
Close the lid, right to the top- tiny angels burn bright but brief and die in wounded worship.
But lay down long, backs nestled near enough, legs twined tender, tentative touches sighed, eyes on sunless sky-sights far

let the firefly go and it becomes a star.

@dave.crowther Oh like that one. It's delicious in the mouth to read aloud - loving the alliteration. In fact, I'm loving this space. Poems can be 'easily' written and finished - a welcome break from novel writing methinks. I know there's the Flash thread, and I keep meaning to give it another go, but this World between the Words is wonderful - I'm loving the reader of Litopians' contemporary poetry as well as posting my own. At least others are reading our work!
