Welcome… I’m New Here! Hello

Hi, I’m Kate, a maths tutor from Lancashire. I have always been a writer, as far back as the ‘what did you do in the holidays?’ In primary school, but I’ve never been brave enough to share my creations. Yet.
I tend to hand write because I love a good fountain pen and paper which means that typing up often doesn’t happen, but I’m hoping that joining this group will give me the kick up the arse required for an ADHD (probably) type to knuckle down and hit the keyboard.
I have written a fantasy book and a complete first draft of the second one. I guess I am looking for some honest criticism, to share with like minded people, to build up a bit of self-belief and hopefully to see what other people are creating and tell them how much I love their stuff.

Sign up for Huddle this week. Look down the forum list Wednesday afternoon, that's when Jonny sets out the sign up thread. Then usually late Thursday Jonny will set out the closed thread. That's when you submit what you want to have discussed. (no more than 1k words in doc x) The thread will also have the link to join the zoom call for 5pm on Sat. It'll change your life.

Welcome, Kate.
there are some really interesting things about writing by hand, the different brain connections we're making, etc. Sadly, one of those interesting things is not the ability for others on an online forum to take a look. We look forward to when you get around to typing (btw, typing in your own words is an intersting exercise, as well). In the meantime, it's always worthwhile to poke around the workshop area and offer a bit of honest comment on what others are working on. It is amazing how much we learn about our own writing when we examine the work of others.

Welkome Kate from a recent 'newby'...Remember....you beat addiction by first admitting you have an addiction...pretty sure the same could be said for writting.... Would be dull if we all had the same background... so a 'White rose' is surely welcome....or is it a 'red rose' in Lanc's ???

You will definately get some good advice here, and its a community with meny seasoned travellers who have a wealth of knowledge...

Yes, I handwrite my first drafts and side-notes such as character profiles, backstory (for me, some of which will trickle into the book), worldbuilding.
