• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Hi everyone,

A Kiwi, happily domiciled on a remote island off the coast of Tasmania, I recently become an Australian citizen. Those that know me have sugggested I may still be suffering from the effects of the lobotomy this process entails (i'm joking🤣).

I love writing, and during the course of the last few years I have managed to cobble together a few novels, loosely based on my experiences in China and Central Asia. One is definetely historical fiction, while the other three could best be described as literary. To date, I have done nothing with them except share with friends and family. I understand this is not the best way to seek serious critique.

In a complete change to my writing style, I am currently drafting something best described as "outback noir", having just returned from a solo cycling expedition to the outback (which was horrible... because I don't particularly enjoy cycling😂😂)

I am hoping to meet like minded souls/enthisiasts within Litopia, to share with, and learn from.

Hi @Echidna

Welcome to Litopia.
Hope you are finding your way around and settling in okay.
Very nice to meet you.
Hopefully see you in the Huddle South this week :)

You sound fun. We like fun here. Welcome to Litopia. Some enter through the traditional wardrobe back entrance, others drop in by helio plane. Happy to welcome you through the echidna flap. We just put it in.

Thanks Pamela Jo,
Well, looks like you're stuck with me, as it's very difficult for us echidnas to walk through tight spaces backwards🤣🤣

Welcome to Litopia. I wasn't sure where Flinders Island was, but Madam Google put me right. It sounds like a good place to write blogs about... and a great location for writers to hail from.
Thanks @mickleinapickle. Very lucky to live here. Several writers on Island, though all very reclusive😞As I settle into Litopia I hope to get to know other scribes and their work, as well as offer contributions of my own.
