• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

I'm James, and I'm new here. I really like the forum design, and, more importantly, almost all posts are carefully written. That's remarkable, really.

I love fiction and non-fiction. I do not read much poetry. However, I am currently reading a bit of Auden, Walcott (Derek), and Li Young Lee, and I really like all three.

I look forward to interesting conversations!

Hi James, welcome to the Colony! :) What kind of stuff do you write?
Hello, Rich!

I consider myself a reader, and I do not write often. I do find writing very rewarding, however. At the same time, it is also quite taxing.

When I write, it is usually about my childhood. I try to reapproach seminal moments hoping to arrive at a truthful insight or two. It's therapeutic.

Writing as catharsis, yes, I can relate to that. Perhaps hanging around with us lot will inspire you to try your hand at other types of writing as well. ;):)
