• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

So, onto this intro thing. I'll be a good egg and follow the suggestions:

I'm a voracious reader of paranormal/urban fantasy books. Bonus points if there's a romance element to them. I've read most genres, and enjoyed some here and there, but the plot has to be exceptional to draw me in. I rarely read non-fiction unless I'm doing research on something specific.

I'm fascinated by all aspects of writing. The only way to improve is to learn as much as I can about the art.

I'm an Army veteran, mother of 2 grown boys, and now a homesteader, wildlife rehabber, and aspiring author. I've been published in some magazines with non-fiction informative articles about animal husbandry, and I've written some short spicy paranormal romance stories on a few different websites, which inspired me to give writing a full length novel a try.

Food and drink? I'm mostly a steak n taters kind of girl. But I do enjoy a good lasagna, there's no such thing as a bad cheesecake, and I'll disappear for days at a time during huckleberry picking season.

Looking forward to figuring out this site and finding my feet so I can hit the ground running.

Oh, sorry, you said Yellowstone in your subject line. For some reason, I'd thought that close to a coast, but clearly not!
Nope, sure isn't. I'm in that fly-over area towards the middle. If I'm on a coast, something went very wrong for a couple of states. I am about 12 hours driving away from the nearest coast. But I do understand the assumption. The most populated areas in the US are in the coasts. My little town has a whopping 184 people in it :)

Welcome @Terri S . Hope you enjoy Litopia.

It’s extremely friendly here so do feel free to get involved as soon as you’re ready.

Here's a good place to check out (How-to guide) to see a lot of what goes on in the colony.

If anything is unclear please contact me and I’ll be happy to assist if I can.

Hello, Terri, and welcome! Sounds like you come from one of the world's (many) beautiful places. There are lots of fantasy writers here on Litopia, so I'm sure you'll fit right in. Once you get to know the place, check out the Workshops. Whether you want to critique someone else's submission, or ask for advice on your own work, it's a great resource.

You can always submit the first 700 words of your own work to Pop-Ups if you'd like some advice on the beginning. That's on YouTube, Sunday evenings from 5pm (UK time), though I'm not sure what that is in Yellowstone time. But you can catch up with it on YouTube any time that suits you. There's excellent advice every week on writing and publishing in general.

I'm one of the Guardians on Litopia. If you have any questions, please get in touch — happy to help any time. Look forward to seeing you around the Colony! :)
