• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Hi!

I found Litopia a while back via Pop-up Submissions (I've submitted one...yelp), but I've only just taken the plunge and joined the colony. I'm a Londoner currently living in south west France with my partner and our two kids (a 4 year old and a 9 month old; life's busy!).

I'm a full-time freelance copywriter, and I also ghost-write non-fiction books (traditionally published in the UK and Europe). I'm constantly surprised that I'm actually making a living from writing things (yey!), but what I'd really love to do is have my own fiction traditionally published. I'm working on a novel at the moment, which I think is upmarket commercial fiction.

Really excited to throw myself in at the deep end here, probably in the wee hours of the night while I'm up feeding the baby. I'll definitely be asking for critiques and I'm looking forward to reading some of your work and sharing my thoughts too! Been craving a sense of community with writing at the heart of it, and a place to share stuff that's usually confined to my own head, so it's very very nice to be here.

Thanks for having me :)

Hi Izzy and welcome.
Your writing chops sound properly impressive, and you’re going to be a real asset here I suspect.
Nice to meet you.

Welcome aboard Izzy :) @Vagabond Heart is right, you will be an asset :) You'll definitely be busy with two little ones, it's amazing you find time to write, in fact, those days are a blur for me, I had 3 under 3. I remember writing around then, I just can't recall when, lol. Looking forward to seeing your work in the Writing Groups :)
