• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Hello! I'm Catherine, a.k.a. C.E. Rohsner. I grew up in Maryland and grew up reading a lot of Enid Blyton books plus the Elsie Dinsmore and related series, which had a profound effect on my life. In school I read the classics, and to this day the classics are a part of my reading list (and I am recently getting to actually enjoy reading again after college.) All my life I wrote what is technically urban fantasy, from a family of bears living on Vancouver Island to a mythical boarding school in Maryland to a time and space travel adventure between Michigan and Tokyo. Woo! I also write poetry and have been a finalist and a shortlist winner nominee in the Adelaide Literary Award's 2019-2020 contests.
I am a copywriter and watercolor artist too. Glad to be here! Cheers!

Hi Catherine, and welcome. Your writing sounds very interesting – I'm sure you'll fit right in here. Do check out the Workshops and don't be shy about offering your own critiques of others' work. Your opinions as a reader are as valid and important as anyone else's. As many members will testify, we learn a lot from critiquing others' work, too.

You can always submit the first 700 words of your own work to Pop-Ups if you'd like some advice on the beginning. That's on YouTube, Sunday evenings (6pm UK time). As you're in the US, the times will be different, but you can catch up on YouTube any time you want.

I'm one of the guardians here, so if you have any questions, please let me know. Look forward to seeing you around the Colony! :)
