• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Hello All.
It's been awhile since I posted anything. I hope everyone is well and managing to stay safe in these awful times.
My first manuscript, Isobel, was on the Pop-Up Submissions a couple of years ago. The feedback was very helpful and I subsequently rewrote the opening chapters and had it professionally edited. I self published it on Amazon and it has done ok, with 2000+ downloads and some lovely reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. It even, very briefly and whilst free, hit the number 1 spot for downloads in the horror section :)
After a writing pause due to a long term family health issue and a project to build some bungalows, I'm carrying on with the sequel. Yay.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and that I'm excited to get back the fun of writing, editing, submitting, repeat...

Hi Paul and welcome back. Hope things haven't gone too far downhill in your absence. :) I am encouraged by your sales. My book is launching today!!

Hi Paul V

I remember reading your opening :) I'm glad it's doing so well, welcome back :)

Cheers
Rachel
Hi Rachel. I hope you're well. To be honest, the opening was pants! I'd changed it so many times previously on the advice of many others, that what I submitted to Pop-ups was nothing like my first idea for the story. The feedback from here was much more clinical and useful. So I went back to diving straight into the action.

Hi Steve. Most 'sales' have been free downloads but that's fine. At the moment for me, I just want the book to be read and hopefully enjoyed by as many folks as possible. I'll make my millions from the sequel.... Best wishes for your book launch!

I actually remember it more from the Writing Groups. It was right around the time I discovered Litopia, so I think I missed you on Pop Ups :)

Welcome back, Paul. Glad you found us again. Looks like you know most of the ropes here already, so I'll just say I look forward to seeing you around the Colony :) And I'll definitely check out your book, too.

Hello Paul,

I think I may have not been around when you were last here but great to see you returning to the Colony again.

Welcome back.
