• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Got an email this morning, which began:

"Dear Terry,
I am delighted to inform you that you have won first prize in the short
story section of the 'Win Your Way to Swanwick' competition run by
Writing Magazine. Your 'God Save the Queen' story was a hit!
The prize includes a free place at this year's Writers' School, which
runs from 10th to 16th of August 2024. The place covers your
accommodation, meals, tea breaks, and all courses, talks and
entertainments."

I brought this story to the Huddle a couple of months ago, so thanks everyone who gave feedback and suggestions on how to make it better. I'm dead chuffed!

Terry, I'm very late in letting you know this, but I'm just seeing it now. Still, I want to say YAY! and that I'm delighted to hear this. How nice!
