All too true—damn it— I should have just said 'True!' :p

I find that writing flash fiction, poetry and song lyrics helps me to get in a frame of mind to excise blubber, as I have to choose words that say what I mean concisely.

There's a rather rude story behind the naming of the sled in Citizen Kane as Rosebud, one that infuriated newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hurst as much as Orson Welles basing Charles Foster Kane's rise and fall on his life. Welles and his screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz both denied the story, which might well have been for fear of Hurst making their careers even more difficult, as he'd already put a lot of pressure on them.
