• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Hello everyone. I've written a children's novel and am currently in the editing stage.
We all know that the first page/chapter is vital to grabbing publishers/agents' attention.
So I wondered if anyone would be interested in reading my first chapter and giving me some feedback...?

It's a story for 8-12 year-olds and the first chapter is only about 600 words.

Cheers

Dan

Hi Dan,

I'm at the same stage as you..can we swap reading of each others first chapters :D
Same target audience as yours.
Mine's about 1800 words..is that ok?

You can start a pm conversation...I just discovered that tool here! It's great. Will post a message now.

I'm happy to take a read if you need extra feedback as I also write for MG - gosh it's lovely to see some many who do! Send me a PM.
