This was exactly my philosophy for teaching my dyslexic sons. I hated that schools required them to continue working at what their brains literally could not do before allowing them to do what they were good at. Strengthening what they could do chipped away at what they couldnt. So now though reading, spelling and cursive writing are still difficult for them learning isn't. I hate to see children who've had the love of learning stripped from them. Every child learns. Too often it is that books and school make them feel stupid.
