Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.
This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.
Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…
We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

In which case, we are all haunting ourselves....
Many versions of who we were at different stages of our life wander the earth, in the minds of those who knew us back then. We learn and alter ourselves, but our core nature holds true—the little person we were in childhood. .
We can only write about what we know, using our imaginations to embellish a story. In this way, true fragments of ourselves become components in a fictional whole. Writing helps to exorcise our demons.
As St. Francis Xavier said:
Give me the child until he is seven and I'll give you the man.
That's exactly fitting for some things I've been thinking about re my own childhood of late.
