• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Members of The Crime Writers’ Association (CWA) voted with an 84% majority to allow self-published authors to join the association's ranks for the first time in its 68-year history.

Full story in today's Bookseller.

According to Bookseller, Maxim Jakubowski, chair of the CWA, said: “... In the past, we only accepted traditionally published authors into the CWA, as this was the best indicator of quality. The publishing landscape has changed in recent years, and self-publishing has become a route for professional writers... The time is right to update our membership criteria.”

Self-published authors wishing to join the CWA must demonstrate “a level of professionalism through a simple-to-complete application form" which will be on the CWA website from September 13, when the association will first accept applications.
