Copyright issues on blog

In forthcoming blog, I'd like to put up my poetry. Anyone know how copyright is protected? The site below seems to offer copyright at £149 a year. So, I'm not sure if it's necessary (if poetry document is on computer, the date of it is shown), and does this mean for one poem or is one having to pay that amount each year? Thanks, if anyone knows the answer.

Anything that is down on paper or published by you in any tangible medium (which includes blogs) is automatically your intellectual property and therefore automatically your copyright. If someone used it without referencing you, they would be in breach of copyright. You can mark your work with a copyright symbol to remind people. Don't pay for copyright.
